LightHouse Television (LTV), one of the oldest TV stations in Uganda, is gearing up for its 20th anniversary celebrations.
The Christian station which has been operating in Uganda since 1997 will celebrate 20 years of existence at a dinner gala to be held at the Kampala Sheraton Hotel this Saturday, October 28.
Addressing media, Robert Bob Nicholes, the Chairman LTV, revealed that starting up the station in Uganda was almost abandoned after they were frustrated on their first attempt.
“Our first trip was in 1995. We arrived in Uganda and started looking for property for the station to be built and could not find anything. We got back on the airplane and headed back to USA. We said we would never be back but we did come back.” He retrospected. “We started on the air in August 1997 and we have been on air ever since.”
The Station Manager, Mr. Gary Everret also noted that, “We have been around blessing the nation with christian programming for a long time. We are celebrating 20 years of broadcasting the gospel of Jesus Christ, christian talk shows and gospel music among others.”
