The popular Big Brother Africa show, commonly known as BBA, has been cancelled for this year’s edition. Africa’s biggest reality TV show’s cancellation has been due to lack of sponsorship. The organizers of the show, Africa Magic and Endemol, were unable to secure sponsorship for this year’s edition of the popular reality show.
“Its true Big brother Africa will not take place this year. The producers of the show Endemol together with Mnet have decided not to run it this year. If you have realized, the show has been regionalized, we had Big brother Mzansi for South Africa and Big Brother Angola for Angola. If anything comes up we shall let you know,” Tina Wamala, head of PR Multichoice Uganda, says.
The cancellation of the show might not be received with open hands having in mind that a number of people had been harboring intentions of trying their luck in this year’s show.
Since the show opened on May 25, 2003, Uganda had never missed a year without sending a representative. From Gaetano Kaggwa, Maureen Namatovu, Morris Mugisha, Kyle Duncan, Sharon O, Hannington Kuteesa, Ernest Wasake, Filbert Okure, Jannette Lutaaya, Isaac Lugudde and Denzel Mwiyeretsi. We shall miss this year’s show.
