The long awaited Zzina awards will take place tomorrow evening at Theatre La’Bonita. The prestigious awards that have been organized by Galaxy FM management, will be held for the second time and are aimed at both recognizing and rewarding only Ugandan talent.

According to Galaxy FM boss, Innocent Nahabwe, Ugandan music is growing very fast but there is a tendency to copy Nigerian music because everyone is eager to make a break through something that he believes will derail us.

He said, “You can’t be big by aping the bigger Nigerians and therefore we hope that with such awards, artists will feel proud to make it here first.”

Innocent added that these are listeners’ choice awards and there are 16 categories to receive the unique accolades that have been made in the US revealing that over 230,000 votes have already come in and voting closes tonight.

He also pointed out that they have a special tribute award to fallen singers AK47 and Elly Wamala which will be received by members of their families.

Tickets will be available tomorrow at the Galaxy FM station in Kansanga and Theatre La’Bonita at Ushs 20,000 and 50,000= for both ordinary and VIP respectively.
