Ugandan businesswoman Zuena Kirema, wife of renowned musician Bebe Cool, recently shed light on the couple’s decision to opt for a straightforward court wedding rather than a grandiose marriage ceremony.
Speaking out on social media while sharing a retweet of humanitarian Kakwenza Rukirabashaija’s tweet discussing extravagant wedding expenditures, Zuena disclosed the rationale behind their choice, citing a desire to control costs and evade potential debts.
The mother of five expressed her contentment with the decision, emphasizing its positive impact on their financial stability. “This is why me & hubby chose a simple court wedding, very little expense and no debts to pay. One of the best decisions we’ve ever made,” Zuena Kirema stated on her Twitter account.
This year Zuena and Bebe Cool celebrated over two decades of marital bliss since exchanging vows in a civil ceremony officiated by the Registrar General. The intimate event was witnessed by a select few of their close friends.

Reflecting on the modest beginning of their marital journey, Zuena explained that financial constraints prevented them from affording a traditional white gown and a proper suit for a conventional white wedding. Undeterred by the lack of resources, the couple embarked on a remarkable journey, leaving their home and hitting the road to formalize their commitment.
The venue for the momentous occasion was Crane Chambers, where Zuena and Bebe Cool arrived promptly at 1PM. Just two hours later, at 3PM, the couple found themselves legally united in matrimony, a testament to the simplicity and efficiency of their chosen path.
Zuena Kirema’s revelation serves as a reminder that the significance of a union lies in the commitment shared between partners rather than the extravagance of the ceremony, imparting valuable insights for those navigating the complexities of wedding planning in a world often consumed by societal expectations.
