Musician Ziza Bafana who flew to Turkey for a show two days ago could be in trouble. This comes after Turkish police started using water cannons, tear gas and rubber bullets to clear a gay pride rally from Istanbul’s central square according to CNN.
Between 100 and 200 marchers were chased away from Taksim Square on Sunday after a police vehicle fired several jets of water to disperse the crowd. Eye-witnesses said police charged after protesters unfurled banners depicting the government of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan as a fascist.
The good news is that Ziza has not reported any kind of trouble yet and we hope it remains this way. A few hours ago he told us I met a fan in Turkey wearing a shirt with the singers name on it. This gave him a lot of joy. “I met this fan of mine here in #Turkey he feels my music so much! He also asked me to teach him my language (Luganda) so that he can understand every single word in my songs. Am so humbled, thank you Lord,” Ziza said.
We will keep you posted.
