“Mayah..Mayah..Mayanja…” There goes the song. Sweet and soothing. The voices of Yvonne Kushe, seemingly innocent and crooning, like a falling feather. Later, the girl from Kiruhura released a couple of songs like Kanywani and a couple of collabos with artistes like Enygma. In the process, she got hooked with a muzungu and that was it. End. Kaput. They would later get married at a small giveaway ceremony at her ancestral home in Kiruhura.
What ensued was a hurricane of pictures of her shoveling snow in Vancouver, Canada. However, Yvonne, even when she is oceans away from home, she has been hoisting the Ugandan flag if need be. She has slowly kept on with her music, doing a couple of gigs in Canada. Latest is, she performed at Calabash Bistro in Vancouver, a Ugandan flag swaying from the background as she crooned away, holding the audience with her sheer craftsmanship. Go girl, we are proud of you.
