AS Vita striker and Uganda Cranes international Yunus Sentamu has won the Uganda Sports Press Association (USPA) Ballon d’Or (football of the year) award for the calendar year 2014.
Sentamu was competing with fellow Uganda Cranes striker and South Africa based player Geoffrey Massa who features for Pretoria University and Daniel ‘Muzei’ Sserunkuma who features for Tanzania’s Simba who recently signed him from Gor Mahia.
Beating Masa with just one vote, Sentamu won with a tally of 22 votes while Sserunkuma got a paltry 5 votes. Sentamu had a tremendous year after scoring three goals during the CHAN tournament that was in South Africa earlier in the year. The youngster was also key in AS Vita’s exquisite performance in the CAF champions that saw them reach the finals even though they didn’t win it.
