Singer Ykee Benda’s time in office as the Uganda Musicians Association (UMA) President is narrowing as he has revealed plans of stepping down soon.
Real name Wyclife Tugume, he made his intentions to resign known via social media on Thursday evening.
Ykee says he has made the decision to resign as UMA President after careful thought and advise from trusted people.
“OFFICIAL; I will be stepping down soon as President of UMA as I will communicate through my PR. After 3 months of deep thought and advise from the people I trust. They need someone else. Admin,” reads a tweet from Ykee Benda.
Benda has been UMA President for barely a year. He took over office from Mrs. Sophie Gombya who resigned to pursue an active political career as the Woman Councillorship in Kampala capital City Authority.

Ykee Benda was sworn in as UMA President in September 2020 with Cindy Sanyu as Vice-President. He is the second President of the association.
