Ykee Benda, has finally put a ring on it — and in the most heartfelt way imaginable. On a dreamy day at Divine Resort, he proposed to his longtime partner Emily Nyawira, capping off a beautiful journey of love with an emotional video that has since captivated fans.
In the touching video, Ykee didn’t just ask the big question — he told their story, raw and unfiltered, in a way only a man deeply in love could.

“Hi Emily, my love, my best friend… Do you remember the first day I laid my eyes on you?” he begins.
According to Ykee, it all started at a friend’s birthday party. Emily, dressed in what he described as “one of the finest black dresses”, wasn’t trying to be noticed — but he noticed her. So smitten was he that he had to get help from his cousin just to be introduced.
“A few texts turned into weeks of conversations that I never wanted to end. Every morning waiting on your good morning text like it was a drug,” he confessed.
Their love blossomed over deep conversations, fun trips (especially one to Jinja), and quiet moments that solidified a growing bond. He vividly recalled sneaking through COVID restrictions by pretending to be a health worker just to see her — and that’s when he officially asked her to be his girlfriend.
But it wasn’t just about romance — it was her dedication that sealed it for him.
“I knew you were the one the day you offered to work for me at my small Dante financial business… without pay. I saw a partner I could build with from the ground up.”
Ykee went on to describe Emily as his biggest hype woman and his most honest critic, someone who helped bring order and purpose into his life.
“You’re the best thing that ever happened to my life… You’ve made my relationship with God stronger… You’ve put a certain fever on my life.”
His words painted a vivid picture of a woman who is both soft and strong, childish when loved right, and unshakably loyal. In a blend of Luganda and English, he closed the video with a passionate promise of forever.
“This is it, man. The shop is closed. If you just happen to say yes baby, I’m going to make you the most beautiful and the happiest woman… So please allow me… I have a little ring I want you to wear on that hand…”
The proposal was more than a public gesture — it was a poetic celebration of their love story. And yes, she said yes.
