The Uganda Music Awards (TUMA) have kicked off their countrywide nominee workshops and concert tours.
They had their first stop in Mbale on Friday where they held a workshop at Wash and Wills hotel, before later holding a concert at El Tanjia club that evening. The event was graced by several local artistes including nominees in the Best Regional Artiste Eastern category, Mr OJ, Isaiah Destiny, Josh Buxton, and Mas de Rapper.
The evening was crowned with a performance from Ykee Benda.
According to the TUMA Director, Enoq Ikiriza, the regional tours intend to engage with the public as well as help groom up and coming musicians in the regions.
He said, “We are here for more than the artiste’s popularity and that is the technicality/quality they incorporate in their music therefore that is why we are holding regional workshops and concerts.”
The tours will be held after every fortnight with Gulu as the next stop on the 22nd and 23rd of June.
