Yaya Toure out for weeks

Yaya-Toure

Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure has been ruled out for up to two weeks with a muscle injury according to manager Manuel Pellegrini.

The Ivorian limped off during City’s 3-2 defeat to Liverpool at Anfield and there were fears that he might not play again this season.

However, it looks as if Toure will only miss three games as City look to keep up the pressure on Liverpool and Chelsea at the top of the table in the coming weeks.

He’ll miss home games with Sunderland and West Bromwich Albion and the tricky looking trip to Selhurst Park to take on Crystal Palace.

But Toure should be fine to return for what is regarded as their toughest remaining fixture against Everton at Goodison Park at the start of May.

Both Vincent Kompany and Sergio Aguero are said to be fine for tomorrow’s game against Sunderland at the Etihad Stadium. Kompany played with a knee injury at Anfield on Sunday, whilst Aguero replaced Edin Dzeko in the second half but failed to make any real impact on the game.

Pellegrini was asked about Toure’s injury in his pre-match press conference ahead of tomorrow night’s game, and he said:

“Maybe it’s not as bad as we thought at the beginning but he needs at least ten days or two weeks to recover.

“Vincent is fine – he is on the squad list for tomorrow and so is Sergio Aguero.”

Toure has been in terrific form this season having scored 22 goals in all competitions and will be missed in the heart of the midfield.
