Ugandan music lovers converged at National theatre last weekend to celebrate World Music day. The event was graced by several musicians. Among the top musicians at the event was Edwin Ruyonga and Jemimah.
Edwin Ruyonga gave revelers the best music day treat as he did some of his popular songs. He also went ‘kikiga’ at one point as he gracefully did the Kikiga dance.
Music Day is a connected set of free public events which takes place each year on the 21st June. Last year there were events in 108 countries and 726 cities around the world, not including France where there were too many events to count!
The event is also known as Fête de la Musique (or World Music Day) and originated in France in 1982.
Here are some photos of Ruyonga in action at National Theatre.
