Winnie Nwagi has spoken out against the ageism faced by female artists, encouraging them to embrace their age with confidence instead of hiding it out of fear of judgment.

Frustrated by the criticism older female musicians often face, Nwagi questioned why ageing is treated negatively in the industry. “What is wrong with ageing? It is a blessing, and if you do not want to age, you should die,” she stated bluntly.
She highlighted how many women in music begin to shy away from their age as they grow older, especially after turning 30.
“I feel bad when I see musicians who are too scared to speak about their age. Many of them, when they get to 30, they stop celebrating birthdays,” she said.
Nwagi stressed that ageing is natural and inevitable, adding, “Even those in their 20s will soon be 30.”
Her message is a call for authenticity and pride in every stage of life, pushing back against societal pressures that value youth over experience.
