I am glad that Museveni now wants to sign the anti homosexuality bill into law. For a while now I’ve been in favor of the passing of the bill for the following reasons:
1. It cannot be enforced, and gay people will continue to exist. People will eventually realize that their time would probably be better spent focusing on issues of greater importance.
2. It is unconstitutional in many ways, and in all likelihood will be held in limbo in the constitutional court should anyone be charged in accordance to it. In fact, it is likely that it will even get repealed. Many lawyers I’ve spoken to have told me the law is a dead horse – a failed project from the beginning.
3. MPs who have done nothing but swindle their constituents will no longer have a red herring to use to distract the public from their numerous failings. Face it, the anti homosexuality bill came in handy for these guys. Never mind that they do nothing for their people while demanding ever more allowances and salaries – luckily for them, they could always claim to be fighting for the sovereignty of Uganda by supporting the anti homosexuality bill. Ugandans, being as naive as they are, will fall for this distraction and hail these good-for-nothings as their heroes. But now that Museveni is going to sign it into law, they will have no other red herrings to hide behind. They will be exposed as the useless thieves that they are, and finally face the wrath of their constituents, for whom they have done nothing. Or maybe not. Ugandans are stupid. They will probably re-elect these clowns in exchange for sugar and soap.
4. Religious leaders have also rallied behind this bill and incited much hatred towards sexual minorities by exploiting people’s gullibility and ignorance. They have used this crusade to reinforce their control of the social narrative in this country. But because this bill will do nothing to “stop” homosexuality, it will be interesting to watch as people eventually realize there are better things to worry about. They will then realize that these religious leaders have largely been wasting their time. Their grip over the social narrative will crumble. Besides, most of them, like our political leaders, are sleazy opportunistic scumbags anyway. Their influence is their meal ticket. It will be fun to watch them panic in search for the next big red herring to dangle in front of the public as the new threat to Uganda.
Who next? Atheists? Hahahahaha. Bring it on, b-tches I can’t wait for Museveni to sign this thing.
