I think Bebe Cool is like the Kanye West of Uganda. If you asked me at random for my best Ugandan musician, I would say it’s Bebe Cool.
The first local music I fell in love with came from Bebe Cool. His music was like espresso in the morning, teaching you to believe in yourself. It was that morning work out in the gym giving you energy to face anything that comes in the day.
There is that aspect of self-belief, that confidence, that high esteem that comes when you listen to his music. His character is not up to me to judge. I will always judge him on his music, the very thing that drew me to him. You know, if he releases a song and I don’t feel it, I say it. If he releases a music video that doesn’t stir that dopamine and oxytocin in me, I will speak out.
And that holds for everyone in my life, I judge you by your creative works. And I believe at the moment, Bebe Cool is doing an excellent work creatively. We all have our flaws, some of us are just so hypocritical that we keep our skeletons in the closet. But you must love Bebe Cool for his honesty and open criticism, if something annoys him, he speaks out. He doesn’t pretend because he has a reputation to protect, he chooses integrity over reputation. What more can you ask of a man?
If you have a battle to face in life be it in relationships or business, just slide in Bebe Cool’s music and you will feel powered up to fight that battle till you win it.
