Henry Tigan was a musician whom many Ugandans had entrusted taking us to another level internationally, especially with reggae music. But apparently, we hardly hear of the forename and when we do, he is gracefully in receipt of bails from friends like Bobi Wine for just failing to cope up with debt terms.
Henry Tigan original names Henry Kirumanganyi revealed that he discovered his talent in S.2 at Afrikana Interland College way back in the year 2000. That’s when Wayne Wonder was the name on everyone’s lips on the international scene simply because of the catchy voice and sweet melodies, and so was the boy’s inspiration.
He appeared on the Ugandan music scene when he was working with jamming crew in the year 2006. His first hit singles were “Emilanga” and “Empisa zo” which he later remixed with Renah. He then went on to release other hits like “Abogeezi” “Nsiimye gwe” “Waddawa” among others. At this stage, talent and Henry Tigan were toning together as this was the time the songs charted every countdown and rocked the airwaves on almost every local radio and TV stations.
The award winning boy in PAM Awards for the best reggae artist in 2007 for his hit single “Emilanga” saw him soar to new heights as he released another hit with Marlon usher, the ganja planter from Jamaica in February 2008. Stats speak for themselves, this was Tigans best moment. Within this period, he managed to do so many collabos including “out of control” with BL, “Okomaawo” with Rita Kigozi among others.
This was when he again joined hands with his personal friend Bobi Wine and released also another hit “Aneganye”. With the reggae touch and inspirational day-to-day life quotes in lyrics, the song also garnered rounds of air play on our local stations both radio and TV.
Tigan’s down fall came when he parted ways with his manager.
Henry Tigan has worked with several producers like Steve Jean, Geoffrey Lwanga and Henry Kiwuuwa.
Surrounded by his last appearances we’ve had songs like vroom and the latest “obuvubuka bwo” with Bobi Wine & Nubian Li.
Gracefully, we appeal to you, Henry Tigan, to prove to your fans that your God given talent has not been put to a waste as we await your record breaking comeback.
