The Ugandan music scene is very interesting. The way an artiste can just disappear into oblivion should be a cause for inquiry. One day an artiste will have the world at his feet with posh cars, beautiful women on his arm, endorsement deals and on another day the same artiste will be seen grassing on the streets looking for a meal. It’s very easy to become irrelevant in the music industry in just one snap.
This brings me to a question. Where is Aziz Azion? Yes, that guy whose English grammar divorced him. English aside, there could be more things that left this guy. Where did the talented guitarist and vocalist go???
A regular on the social circuit in 2009 when he first broke out with that Nkumira Omukwano piece, Aziz saw his star rise beyond the horizons. The West End label was born and the future could have only been brighter. The vocalist did remarkable songs like Yeggwe, Painkiller but it’s strange to see how he has fallen off the grid so fast.
With a country so starved of genuine talent, a real musician should hold the wheel of the industry and lead it foward. He is an instrumentalist as well as a singer which are strong ingredients for a singer to be successful.
Aziz should rediscover his potential and return from the wilderness.
