Many musicians are not shy about expressing their political opinions nor are politicians shy about courting favor of the musical elite.
Without surprise, popular artists make lots of news, and when a popular artiste says or does something political it tends usually goes viral especially when what they say goes against expectations.
Bobi Wine who is both a musician and a politician is on another game altogether. He showed this at his second lockdown concert, dubbed; ‘Freedom Online Concert’.
The main talk around town now is about his ‘Freedom Online Concert’ that went down on Sunday 28th courtesy of Freedom Foundation Africa.
Similarly, to his recently concluded ‘Ensasage mu quarantine’ concert, the virtually-produced concert was phenomenal and entertaining to watch.
His sound production was a cut above the ordinally as Solid Band’s Charlie Mugerwa gave it his all like it was the case in the first online concert.
When it comes to the visual aspect, Bobi Wine’s longtime videographer, Kim XP rendered extreme commitment as never before.
The video was alluring and constantly finer throughout despite it being an out-door and daytime event.
It being a politically themed event, Bobi Wine serenaded with his top songs that preach and advocate for freedom in the country.
He was in company of Solid Band that lit-up Bobi Wine and lines with its live music instruments along .
The crew also comprised of singer Aziz Azion executed his guitar skills that prioritized the show with such a groovy live sound.
Prominent saxophonist, Joseph Sax was also on-board as he blended the music with elite pitches from his saxophone.
The Piano/keyboard was solely dominated by legendary Ugandan music producers, Paddy Man and Tonny Houls who unleashed magical touches on Bobi’s tracks.
On advancing, Bobi Wine was joined by music partner, Nubian Li and fellow musicians; King Saha and Dr, Hilderman, comedian Patriko Mujuuka and talent manager Solomon Kayemba and they mashed-up with the ‘Tuliyambala Engule’ song.
To the digital statistics, Bobi Wine this time round gathered an average of 20,000 live viewers on his Facebook page in the 2 hours show, a figure that is less by over 10,000 viewers to his recent concluded concert which had 30,000 viewers.
Freedom Foundation Africa (FNF in Africa) is the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom, an independent German organization that is committed to promoting liberal policy and politics around the world in the form of human rights, the rule of law, democracy, innovation, digitalization and free trade.
It is responsible for organizing campaigns, media events, seminars, workshops, study tours, cultural happenings and training courses.
They have activities in many countries in the region such as Botswana, Burkina Faso, Cote d’Ivoire, Ethiopia, Guinea, Kenya, Mali, Namibia, Tanzania, Uganda, Senegal, South Africa, Zimbabwe and Zambia.
The foundation prioritizes human rights including freedom expression, freedom of the press, violence against women, capital punishment, children’s rights and LGBTQI+ rights.
They believe that Africa has to be free from corruption, free from red-tape, in order to be #FreeToAdvance.
All in all, it was a successful online concert that one ought to watch anytime.
