The A Ka Dope show returned on Sunday starring rapper Mun G. The show which aired online on Sunday night also featured four contestants including; two male rappers, Emuron and Matt Travers, and two female vocalists, Bangi and Anna.
Emuron was the first contestant to perform on the A ka dope stage, singing his original composition Kampala Ssibizimbe, a song inspired by the daily city hustles. According to Emuron, his musical career was inspired by the legendary America rapper, Eminem.
He was followed by female contestant Anna, a 20-year-old talented artist inspired by America’s darling Rihanna. Anna too pulled off an energetic performance singing her original composition titled Outside.
Anna who couldn’t afford to hide her excitement after her rip-roaring performance was optimistic about proceeding to the grand finale show.
The third competitor Bangi, who is a radio presenter on one of the leading Radio stations in Kampala also sung her heart out. Her song Predator was incredibly relatable as it described the endless heartbreaks that many people go through to find their perfect life partners.
Matt Travers, a S6 vacist and rap enthusiast was the fourth on the stage and he blew it up with his song titled Destiny Child. The young rapper is passionate about rap music and his bond with the mentor (Mun G) on stage was exceptional. Matt too, has his eyes on the top-most prize and breaking barriers in the city rap industry.
The evening was sealed off with an electrifying performance from the Mentor himself, Mun G alongside the mentees singing his hit song Champion featuring Naava Grey.
During the show, Mitchy was announced the episode one winner, booking a place in the finals.
This year, the A Ka Dope organizers will be looking for Uganda’s next music star with the support of 101 Music, Uganda Waragi and Roke Telecom making it possible for them to walk away with a music recording deal and a cash prize of UGX 2 million.
