Uganda Cranes skipper Denis Iguma has said the 37 million Ugandans should not get scared because the national team is going to do them proud at the 2014 Africa Nations Championship in South Africa.
“We are going to mean serious business and we are determined to do the nation proud,” Iguma said during a send-off dinner held at the Serena Hotel on Tuesday night.
The SC Victoria University defender said that all the 23 players on the team are very determined to carry the national flag high. “We are going for battle and we are very ready for it,” added Iguma who recently recovered from an injury that had kept him out for three months.
Goalkeeper Benjamin Ochan whose good show in the FUFA Super League earned him a call-up in the national team said he is also determined to perform well at the tournament.
“As a goalkeeper I will try my best to put up a good show because it’s the kind of tournament that could open doors for a player,” he told Supersport.com.
The Cranes who will be making as second attempt at the Chan event having failed in 2011 in Khartoum, Sudan will depart for Cape Town tomorrow. The delegation will be led by FA member
