As Uganda prepares to face off with Ethiopia today in the CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup semi-finals, Cranes head Coach Milutin Micho Sredojevic has said that this isn’t the time to look at history.
Uganda being the record champions of the regional annual tournament with thirteen titles look to be the favourites against an Ethiopian side that has only won the crown on four occasions.
When it comes to head-to-head, Cranes are still the better side with six wins over their last nine encounters with the Walia ibex winning twice and sharing the spoils on the other occasion.
“History is good but when you go to the field, you go to play football and so many changes take place including the players and atmosphere. We shall concentrate on winning our game,” coach Micho is quoted on the New Vision website.
Uganda continues to seek their fourteenth title against a home side of Ethiopia who seek their fifth since 2005.
In the other semi-final, 2013 losing finalists of Sudan take on Rwanda.
