Police spokesperson, Fred Enanga has warned promoter Abtex against organizing protests in Kampala.

While speaking to the press yesterday, Enanga said that they are aware of Abitex’s plans of protesting and noted that they will do anything in their capacity to stop him.

“Peaceful demonstrations are okay but promoters should understand that the government has not officially permitted them to organize events due to corona. We hope they understand that these events attract crowds which puts the lives of Ugandans at risk. We, therefore, warn all those promoters who are planning to demonstrate and we promise that we shall arrest them,” he noted.

Enanga further adds that as police, they are mandated to protect the lives of Ugandans and will therefore do whatever it will take them to do to ensure that they are protected.

This comes after event organizers and promoters threatened to demonstrate saying the government has failed to listen to their grievances.
