micho sUganda coach Micho Sredojevic has put is side’s elimination from the African Nations Championship (Chan) in South Africa down to inexperience.

The Uganda Cranes were eliminated on Monday after falling 3-1 to Morocco to end their group games third in Pool B with four points.

Yunus Sentamu scored Uganda’s lone goal to bring his tally for the tournament to three while Abdessamad Rafik, substitute Ijaour Mounssine, and Abdel Kabir El Oui netted Morocco’s in a game the North Africans dominated.

And Micho was honest in his assessment. “We played a very experienced side and that was very evident on the pitch with their kind of movement and skill,” said Micho after the game.

The Serb, despite failing to make the last eight, was, however, the tournament benefited his still-learning players.

Micho was not also lost on the fact that he faced a Moroccan side boasting of seven Raja Casablanca players who recently played in the World Cup Club championship final. Raja lost that final 2-0 to European Champions Bayern Munich.

“I am happy that although we did not qualify, we managed to win one game, get a draw and suffer one defeat which was better that at the 2011 Edition where we lost all the games.”

Zimbabwe beat Burkina Faso 1-0 to grab the second slot into the quarters.
