Uganda Cranes assistant coach Moses Basena says the Cranes game against Botswana on Saturday will not be a walk over as many think. Basena revealed the team is in a transition with many players leaving and new ones coming into the squad which all isn’t easy.
Speaking about tomorrow’s game in which Uganda Cranes will entertain the ‘Zebras’ of Botswana in their first Group D game of the 2017 AFCON qualifiers, Basena said it won’t be easy.
“In football, you are as good as your next game. Your last counts for little,” Basena told the Daily Monitor.
Uganda’s last action was on Tuesday as they engaged in a buildup international friendly against Gambia at Mandela National Stadium which ended in a one-all draw thanks to the efforts of Robert Sentongo (61st Minute) with Omar Jagne netting the equalizer in the 73rd Minute.
“It is what we do on Saturday that will count. We know it is not easy because we are in transition. Many players are going out and many are coming in,” he added.
“Botswana are fresh from Cosafa so they have much in their legs, unlike us who have some players in recess, others in season. But of course we must start well,” Basena concluded.
