Ugandan girl group Warafiki has hit back at singer Cindy Sanyu after she downplayed their style, suggesting they were following in the footsteps of the once-popular girl group Blu*3.

In what they termed as a “History Lesson,” Warafiki made it clear that they are not imitating Blu*3 and, in fact, girl groups existed long before them.
“We were originally a four-member group, but due to certain circumstances, we remained three,” one of the members explained. “As a group, we aren’t trying to prove a point or be like anybody else. We are inspired by different people.”
The trio revealed that they draw inspiration from international girl groups such as Flow (UK), Destiny’s Child, The Rosettes, and The Supremes, among others.
According to them, their vision and style are shaped by a broader musical history rather than just local predecessors.
