A David and Goliath fight, one would term it as 8th ranked Wales edged 14th ranked She Cranes (the Uganda national netball team) by 49-47 in the final group D game for the two sides.
Only a margin of two goals separated the two sides on the final score-sheet in a highly contested game at the Allphones Arena in Sydney Australia.
15-15 was the score by the end of the first Quarter before Wales defeated Uganda in the second quarter by just one goal. 12-11 was the score making it 26-27 for Wales and Uganda respectively at half-time.
Fighters, I call them, the She Cranes did not sit back as they came out on top of the third quarter with a 13-8 score but things turned against them in the fourth and final quarter which they lost by 14-8.
Both sides had already qualified for the last eight even before today’s clash, however Wales topped Group D after three wins in three.
After finishing second in Pool D, The She Cranes now join New Zealand, Jamaica and Malawi in Pool E as the games continue at the Allphones Netball Arena.
