Dancehall musician Vyper Ranking has stirred debate after boldly claiming that he ranks higher than veteran singer King Michael in the dancehall genre.
Speaking during a YouTube interview, Vyper Ranking said he considers himself superior when it comes to dancehall music.
He further revealed that visiting Jamaican artists once reviewed different Ugandan dancehall songs and concluded that he was the best.
“When it comes to dancehall, King Michael is extremely below me. That is the level I am at. When Jamaicans came in Uganda, they sampled them all the music and concluded that it was me the best,” Vyper Ranking said.
The statement has sparked reactions among fans and industry observers, with some praising Vyper Ranking’s confidence while others see it as disrespect towards King Michael, who has been a household name in the Ugandan dancehall scene for years.
Neither King Michael nor his camp has responded to the remarks.
However, the claims add fresh tension to Uganda’s competitive dancehall industry.
