Ugandan dancehall artist Vyper Ranking has hit back at veteran singer King Michael, following comments that he lacks the true style and storytelling of dancehall music.

While appearing on a YouTube show, King Michael acknowledged that Vyper is a talented artist but argued that his music falls short when it comes to depth and narrative.

However, Vyper didn’t take the remarks lightly. In a sharp response, he questioned Michael’s authority to critique him:

“When it comes to dancehall, I’m on the moon and Michael is somewhere down in the bush. I don’t even think he has five hit songs. Besides, he stopped singing long ago. I only know two of his songs when I was still in primary school.”

Vyper went on to defend his craft, insisting that his songs carry strong messages and storytelling elements. He pointed to tracks such as Kiti Kya Muwogo and Transport Money as proof of his lyrical depth.

“When I’m singing about a topic, I do the introduction and body. I’m like a kadongo kamu artist. He hurried to judge me and I can’t take advice from someone like that.”
