Vivo Energy Uganda, the company that distributes and markets Shell fuels and lubricants, including Shell Gas, brings back the famous Tokosa Food Festival for the second time.

The Shell Gas Tokosa Food Festival 2016 will bring together over 20 restaurants and food industry players who will showcase their signature dishes, both local and international. The event is a platform to celebrate the growing vibrant food culture in Uganda.

This year the Shell Gas Tokosa Food Festival has identified the Bless a Child Foundation as a beneficiary partner to receive 10% of the ticket sales. The foundation provides improved childhood cancer care services for terminally ill children. Through the foundation, the children can access food, education and care, free of charge. Over 800 children have benefited from this cause over the past years.

Some activities that have been planned for the festival include cooking competitions for various categories including celebrities, bachelors, couples, divas and CEOs. The day will also be highlighted with eating competitions, exciting activities in the kids’ corner, and fun and games with entertainment from Janzi band and Lillian Mbabazi. Shell Gas will be available on special offer. To promote culinary excellence, the best restaurants of the day will also be awarded.

Speaking at the press launch of the Shell Gas Tokosa Food Festival at Legends Grounds, Vivo Energy Managing Director, Hans Paulsen said the Shell Gas Tokosa Food Festival is about celebrating diversity of cultures, food and relationships.

“You can’t have a celebration without food. In Uganda we cook for our families, we cook for our guests, and we also cook at all celebrations. Shell Gas is here to bring on all these good times and build beautiful lifetime experiences.” Paulsen said.

“Shell Gas is available in 3 sizes – 6kg, 15kg and 45kg as well as the bulk solution suitable for real estate developers, schools and hospitals. We have also introduced a new 6kg cylinder with a burner and grill, commonly known as Ka-portable, to cater for new home owners, food vendors and outdoor users.” Paulsen noted.

The event takes place on Sunday 24th April 2016 at the Legends Grounds Kampala and is sponsored by Club Twist, Royco Mchuzi Mix, Hello Food, Roke Telkom and Vivo Energy Uganda through the Shell Gas brand. Gates will open at 10:00am.
