Vivo Energy, the company that distributes and markets Shell branded products in Africa, has unveiled a USD 10,000 sponsorship towards the establishment of a football academy in Uganda, an initiative spearheaded by Barcelona FC legends.
Announcing the sponsorship to the former Barcelona stars at Shell Kira road, Vivo Energy country sales manager Edward Walugembe said that the company was honored to participate in this great initiative to develop football in Uganda while investing in the youth.
“Barcelona FC is a great brand known the world over and we are glad that they are partnering with us to change the lives of talented Uganda children,” Paulsen noted.
The establishment of the football academy in Uganda will help talented kids develop their skills to stand a chance of joining big leagues like La Liga and the Premier in the next 10 years. It is noted that Uganda has a young population which is highly talented in sports like football. The Barcelona legends were excited to have Vivo Energy on board and are looking forward to see that they develop the sport not only for the kids but for the country.
The legends are working together with UNICEF through sport to reach many children, educate them, improve their discipline and develop other values. Those with talent will be given opportunities to play professional football which will change their lives and provide career opportunities.
Vivo Energy’s sponsorship of USD 10,000 was handed over during the official opening of the new KFC drive-through restaurant at Shell Kira Road in Bukoto– the first of its kind in Uganda. The company has continued to increase its partnerships with restaurant chains at Shell service stations with the recently launched KFC restaurant at Shell Kabalagala, Café Pap at Shell Bukoto and Kahwa2go at Shell Jinja road.
