Vivo Energy Uganda, the company that distributes and markets Shell branded fuels and lubricants, through its Shell V-Power brand has announced a sponsorship package worth 100,000,000shillings towards the organization of the Pearl of Africa Rally.
The announcement was made at a special ceremony held at Shell Bugolobi which also doubled as the official launch of the 18th edition of the Pearl of Africa Rally.
Speaking during the handover ceremony, Vivo Energy Managing Director Mr. Hans Paulsen said that the rally will give the fuel consumers and rally fans an opportunity to experience Shell V-Power the formula for driving excitement.
“Vivo Energy is committed to maintaining the very highest safety standards and will accord full priority to the safety of the participants, spectators and the general public during this year’s rally” Hans said. He further cautioned the participants, fans and the general public to observe the safety measures put in place to ensure their full safety during the rally.
Jack Wavamunno, the Federation of Motorsports Clubs of Uganda (FMU) President said that the contribution from Vivo Energy will help the event turn out successful, “We thank Vivo Energy for the continued and committed support towards supporting the motorsport fraternity and as a federation we are working closely with all stake holders to host a successful event.” Said Wavamunno
The total length of the rally will be approximately 778 Kms. It will be run on gravel roads in private forests and coffee plantations 150 Kms North West of Kampala, around the town of Mubende.
The Pearl of Africa Uganda Rally is one of the eight rounds of the FIA sanctioned African Rally Championship, and will run from August 28th – 30th, 2015.
