Ssekitto Kalule Emmanuel, an activist visual artist and art therapist wants to change Ugandan’s mindsets through art.
“I am running a motivational art campaign called FACES UP in which I’m going to do 50 portrait art works for 50 influential people in Uganda that people look up to. In this campaign I have approached so many people in different sectors in Uganda ranging from TV presenters, athletes, musicians, entrepreneurs, sports men among others and I am going to make art works of their faces,” he said
The final exhibitions of the art pieces will be in October. Emmanuel says he came up with the idea of making art works of influential people to inspire the youth whom these serve as role models.
“When I make an art work of your face, and people already know who you are, they can easily be inspired by just seeing your face. After making these 50 works, I will frame them in glass and prepare them for an exhibition where the audience will get a chance to meet their role models who will share some inspiration message that may change people’s way of thinking,” Emma said.
