The ‘Learners’ of Sports Club Victoria University dealt Vipers’ title hopes a major blow after holding them to a 1-1 draw at the Mandela National Stadium, Namboole yesterday evening in the Azam Uganda Premier League (AUPL).

Sharing the spoils saw the 2010 champions lose their top spot on the 16-team log to SC Villa who had come out on top with a 2-1 victory against Simba in Bombo on the same day. Villa now top the summit on a better goal difference but both sides have 60 points.

The gangly Fahad Toko gave Victoria University the lead in the first half but Edward Golola’s side showed resilience as they levelled matters through January recruit Julius Malingumu at the brink of half-time.

Elsewhere, defending champions KCCA fc shared the spoils with Jinja based side Bul fc at Kakindu stadium on the evening.

The result could only maintain the yellow boys 3rd on the log with 51 points from 27 games while Bul fc also remained 5th with 42 points from the same number of games.
