Statistically the better team lost as Vipers stunned defending champions Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) by 2-0 at the Phillip Omondi Stadium, Lugogo in the Azam Uganda Premier League (AUPL).

Vipers benefited from two first half unfortunate own goals by defender Joseph Ochaya in the 27th minute and goalkeeper Yasin Mugabi who put the ball in the back of his own net with barely a minute to recess to hand victory to the guests.

The win extends Vipers’ lead at the top of the table with 56 points from 25 games while KCCA remained third on the log with 50 points. Vipers return home to wait for Police in their next fixture.

“We will still fight till the last whistle. We will push on until the end,” KCCA captain, Tom Masiko said shortly after the game.

On the other hand Vipers’ captain Nicholas Wadada says it’s not yet done and they still have to struggle to win the title.

“We are still struggling but we are hopeful that we can get the title. Am waiting for Police,” Vipers’ captain Nicholas Wadada said shortly after the game.

At the Kavumba recreation stadium in Wakiso, SC Villa defeated home side Soana fc 3-1 to keep in pace with the table leaders. Villa now move to 54 points from 24 games.
