Defending champions, Vipers SC have secured the services of attacking midfielder Erisa Ssekisambu on a three year deal as they continue to strengthen their squad ahead of the new season in which they will represent Uganda in the CAF champions’ league.
It should be noted that Ssekisambu was among the 15 players that were released by 16-time record champions SC Villa which means he has been a free agent. Currently, the on-form star is with the National team ahead of the 2016 CHAN qualifier return leg against Tanzania.
He now becomes the fifth player to join the Buikwe based club after they secured the services of Duncan Seninde, Brian Nkuubi, Shafiki Bakaki and John Semazzi who were announced over the weekend at the club’s corporate dinner during which they also celebrated their league title victory.
According to the club secretary, Harunah Kyobe wrote on social media, “Vipers Sports Club have completed the signing of Erias Sekisambu from SC Villa in a bid to strengthen the squad for the forthcoming competitions. The deal has been sealed this afternoon and the versatile player put pen to paper on a three year contract.”
Ssekisambu’s quality and skills are not questionable after he was voted the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the 2015 Uganda Cup. In the same vein, he scored 10 goals in all competitions for the ‘Blues’ last season.
The former Express fc, URA fc and SC Villa attacking agent also scored a brace as Uganda thrashed Tanzania 3-0 during the first leg of the CHAN qualifiers in Zanzibar.
