As the Uganda Cranes took a morning warm up for their clash against Sudan yesterday, Azam Uganda Premier League (AUPL) reigning champions Vipers Sports Club were entertaining FUFA Big League side Entebbe FC in a friendly match as they continued to prepare for their next league fixture against Soana FC.
Having shared the spoils with another Big League side, Proline FC earlier on in the week, Vipers tactician Edward Golola made two vital changes to his starting IX with Siraje Sentamu and Musa Malunda replacing Patrick Sembuya and Yusuf Mukisa respectively.
The 2013/2014 season MVP, Allan Kyambadde was at the peak of his game as Vipers traveled to Bugonga where summer recruit Brian Nkubbi opened the scoring with an exquisite free-kick before Somoka Rouch leveled matters with a thunder shot.
Kyambadde was once again in the spot light before being brought down in the forbidden area with Sadam Juma converting the resultant penalty to restore Vipers’ lead.
Minutes later Somoka made it 2-2 for the hosts, raising his personally tally to two when he scored from 12 yards after Siraje Sentamu had been convicted of handling the ball in the area.
Kyambadde took matters in his own hands at the stroke of half time to make the score line 3-2 in favour of the visitors.
After recess, Vipers continued with their dominance before making it 4-2 at the hour mark. Joseph Mpande made it 5-2 but Entebbe were not willing to let go without a fight with Vincent Tumusiime picking up the third before the final whistle to end it 5-3.
Vipers return to action on Friday with a tie against Soana FC in the league after their Tuesday fixture against Police FC was postponed due to the former having many players with in the national team that traveled to Sudan for the Chan encounter.
