Vipers' Ismail

By James Robert Kayindi

Uganda premier league 2010 champions, Vipers Sports Club, kicked off the second round of the season in style as they condemned Sadolin Paints to a 1-0 defeat on Friday thanks to Vicent Kayizi’s only strike on the evening at the Bugembe stadium in Jinja.

The win puts the Buikwe based side in second place, just a point behind table leaders SC Villa. Vipers now stand in 2nd spot with 38points from 16 matches while Villa are leaders with 39 points from 17 matches.

Meanwhile, at the Mandela National Stadium, it was a Namboole derby as Sports Club Victoria University (SCVU) entertained the league killers of Kiira Young who also host their home games from the same stadium. Kiira Young came out on top as they beat the Learners 1-0, thanks to a second half header from Patrick Kaddu. Victoria University have now suffered two straight defeats since Mohammad Nsereko’s take over as new club chairman.

Elsewhere, the Red Eagles of Express managed to get three crucial points during their away visit to Entebbe F.C at Bugonga stadium in Entebbe. The Wankulukuku based side scored through Godfrey Lwesibawa who netted the only goal of the game in the first half to hand victory to Express.

League debutants of Lweza were condemned to a 3-2 defeat by Jinja based side Bul F.C at the Mutesa II Royal Stadium, Wankulukuku.

At the Bombo Military stadium, Police F.C defeated the army side of Simba by 1-0.

Match Day 18 Results Friday, 27th February 2015:

Entebbe F.C 0-1 Express F.C
