Azam Uganda Premier League (AUPL) defending champions Vipers Sports Club will play three friendlies before the league resumes on 27th October in an attempt to keep their players in shape and active during this international break.
As the Uganda Cranes continue to prepare for their CHAN clash against Sudan on Saturday, Vipers will be lining up to play against three FUFA Big League sides from 16th to 24th October.
The buildup matches kick off this Friday when Vipers meet Masavu fc at SMACK play grounds in Kisubi, then go head on with Proline on Monday 19th before concluding with Entebbe FC on Saturday 24th.
“We started our campaign very well, that is the reason we are joint top of the table with KCCA. We need to maintain the momentum by ensuring the squad plays competitively,” senior coach Edward Golola is quoted on the club’s official website.
Golola also revealed intentions of trying out different formations during these friendlies as well as bring more competitiveness in his squad.
Vipers already have eight players within the national team leaving them with a task of keeping the other players active like their opponents Express fc and SC Villa have done after having friendly matches with the Cranes.
The campaign will some youngsters from the Vipers U-17 team link up with their superiors for the buildup matches. These include: Tumwesigye “Zaga” Frank, Bamunturaki “Fadiga” Ashraf, Komakech Alex, Mutanda Bashir, Asiku Bashir, Shaban Muhammed and goal keeper Ochan Derrick.
