Vinka has taken a stand against corruption and addressed why she hasn’t received funds from the Uganda National Musicians Federation (UNMF), a body led by Eddy Kenzo.

While other artists have been vocal in their criticism of the Federation, Vinka has remained silent for specific reasons.

Vinka revealed that she hasn’t been in the country for the past few weeks, making it difficult for her to stay informed about the recent events and debates within the local music industry.

The controversy mainly revolves around Azawi and other artists who have criticized the Federation for remaining silent on issues of corruption in Uganda.

Due to her absence, Vinka explained that she couldn’t add her voice to the ongoing discussions or urge people to protest, as she wouldn’t be able to participate herself.

Despite her silence, Vinka made it clear that she stands firmly against corruption. She emphasized that having traveled extensively, she has seen how systems in other parts of the world function effectively.

“Who doesn’t want such a beautiful system?” she asked rhetorically. Vinka stressed that she doesn’t need to be publicly called out to fight against corruption, likening her stance to that of a woman in an abusive relationship who remains silent but hopeful for a better future.

Addressing the topic of the Federation’s SACCO (Savings and Credit Cooperative Organization) money, Vinka stated that she sees no reason to accept funds from the Federation. “I don’t think I have ever taken money for free in my life,” she said, adding that if she were to accept money, it would have to be for a valid reason.
