It was another miserable day for Lweza Football Club as they lost 1-0 to record champions SC Villa at Muteesa II stadium, Wankulukuku in the Azam Uganda Premier League (AUPL).
The Kajjansi Boys came into the game on the back of losing 2-1 to Express fc which kept them at the bottom of the table.
After a virgin first half, Godfrey Lwesibawa scored from the spot in the 73rd minute of the game as SC Villa condemned a 10-man Lweza FC to their third consecutive loss of the season.
The spot kick followed a foul on Umar Kasumba by Ibrahim Kiyemba in the forbidden area forcing the center referee Ali Bakisula to give the penalty, a decision Lweza fans didn’t seem to agree with.
Two minutes to the end, ex-SC Villa and former Uganda Cranes defender Nestroy Kizito was given matching orders on second booking for a foul on Kasumba.
The win puts SC Villa in 7th place behind URA who also have 7points but the Blues have played a game more than the Tax Collectors. Meanwhile pressure continues to mount on Joseph Mutyaba as Lweza remain at the bottom of the 16-team log without a single point in three games.
Elsewhere, Express FC also failed to break the jinx at Mwererwe Stadium against Bright Stars as they settled for a 1-1 draw that relegated them to third place on the table with 9points.
At the Kavumba Recreational Stadium in Wakiso, it was a warm welcome for Coach Sam Timbe who recently reunited with the club as home side Police Fc condemned Jinja based side Sadolin Paints to a 2-1 defeat. The win sends Police to 4th place on the log with 9points as 3rd placed Express fc, all from five games.
In Luzira, home side Maroons fc were condemned to yet another defeat as they lost 1-0 to visitors Soana fc while The Saints held JMC Hippos to a goalless draw in Jinja.
