Ugandan musicians and former lovers, Rema Namakula and Eddy Kenzo, delighted fans with an unexpected and heartwarming exchange during David Lutalo’s concert at the Serena Hotel.
The concert celebrated Lutalo’s 15-year journey in the music industry, drawing a star-studded crowd, including both Rema, who performed, and Kenzo, who watched from the audience but later performed too.
When Rema took the stage, her performance stirred a wave of excitement among fans, especially when they noticed Kenzo in the crowd.
Sensing the crowd’s excitement, Kenzo, who initially stood up, became shy under the spotlight and quickly sat back down. Fans, however, cheered even louder, playfully teasing the former couple.
Seizing the moment, Rema pointed in Kenzo’s direction and humorously called out to him, saying, “Taata Aamal story ki? Wama abo tebakumalako mirembe,” which translates to, “What’s up Daddy Aamal? Don’t let those people ruin your comfort.”
In response, Kenzo waved back, sending the audience into a frenzy of applause and laughter.
This lighthearted moment between Rema and Kenzo comes not long after the two reunited to celebrate Maya’s birthday.
The former couple, now each with their respective partners—Minister Hon. Phiona Nyamutoro for Kenzo and Dr. Hamza Ssebunya for Rema—showed that they have put the past behind them, co-parenting harmoniously for their daughter’s sake.
