BET award winner Eddy Kenzo was successfully repatriated and brought back to the Pearl of Africa after almost 5months struggling to thrive on a foreign land.

The Ugandan music icon touched down on Saturday, 25th July early morning at Entebbe International Airport.

He arrived together with other 55 other Ugandan Nationals and legal residents who had been stranded in West African countries due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

However, plans by his entire crew, friends, fans and the media who had earlier travelled to pay him a warm welcome, hit rock bottom after being denied access by the authorities.

According to his manager Martin Beta Muhumuza, restricted entry was because the airport is still under lockdown due to the Corona Virus pandemic threats.

“Am so happy for us all for having showed Eddy Kenzo love by coming here to welcome him. I thank the media, team Eddy Kenzo, fans and friends who have not physically made it here in Entebbe to welcome him.

However, it being a COVID-19 season, upon reaching the Airport, the authorities denied us access because the airport is still under lockdown and advised us to wait away,” stated Martin Beta.

He also revealed that Eddy was to undergo the Ministry of health’s Standard of Operation procedures (SOP) for all returnees, which is a two weeks quarantine at designated residences.

“They also revealed to us plan that Kenzo is supposed to undergo quarantine for 14days and he will be privately picked together with other returnees immediately after plane touching down by the Ministry of health buses and transported to different quarantine centers that everyone chose,” he added.

However, Martin said there would be a possibility of meeting the ‘Semyekozo’ singer after him reporting to his allocated place of quarantine with emphasis of observing the Ministry of health’s SOPs.

“I spoke to him earlier and we agreed that if he is denied access to the public, we shall organize a press conference with the media at the relevant hotel where he has been admitted. This meeting will be emphasized with the COVID-19 protective measures such as social distancing, sanitizing and wearing of face masks.”

Here, Kenzo will narrate ordeal regarding his Ivory coast stay, his current moods and plans for his next step.

“In the conference he will be able to narrate how he has been keeping up in Ivory Coast, his current feeling and what should the fans expect from him,” he further asserted.

Beta also drew his deep apologies to all parties that were inconvenienced by the sudden restrictions to access Kenzo.

“I therefore apologize to those inconvenienced by the situation of not access him.”

Welcome back home Dada!
