Musician Victor Kamenyo who is a third year of Law school at Makerere University has spoken out about claims that he imitates fellow rapper, Gravity Omutujju.
The Silina Malala singer revealed that he has never imitated Gravity and if anything, the ‘Ebijanjalo’ rapper is the one who imitates him.
“First and foremost, my stage name is Victor Kamenyo and his is Gravity Omutujju. Unlike Gravity who started out doing ragga and imitating Bobi Wine, I started out doing the same thing as I am doing now,” said the musician who grew up in a poor family and finally rose through the music ranks.
“I have more than 5,000 witnesses all over the country. My goal was to inspire people and leave a legacy on the entertainment scene. I don’t imitate Gravity, he imitates me,” he added.
Victor also talked about his challenges as a musician. He revealed how he used to struggle to get opportunities to perform since he didn’t have money to bribe deejays.
“Before I became successful, there is an emcee who broke my CD in pieces when I begged him to perform as an upcoming artiste. I used to transport myself to events in different places and at the end of the day I did not perform because Deejays, emcees and organisers wanted to be bribed,” he said.
Victor will today hold his maiden concert at Muganzirwazza Complex in Kampala.
We will keep you posted.
