In a recent online interview, veteran Ugandan singer Viboyo Oweyo revealed the reasons behind his hiatus from the music industry.
Viboyo shared advice he received from a colleague, Roger, which significantly influenced his decision to step back and have a better understanding of the music business.
“Roger told me that sometimes, when you see something not going your way, first step out and watch how it’s being done by others. From there, it will be easier for you to realize the positives and mistakes that others are making. It doesn’t matter how long it can be. It’s from here that you learn a lot,” Viboyo Oweyo explained.
Viboyo Oweyo emerged as a vibrant figure in the Ugandan music scene in the early 2010s.
He is well-known for his hit songs such as “Nyumbani” featuring Radio & Weasel, “Zina” featuring Benon & Vampos, and “Locomotive (Whistle Song)” featuring All Stars, among others.
Oweyo’s reflective break has allowed him to observe and learn from the industry, suggesting that his return could bring new insights and creativity to his music.
Fans eagerly await his comeback, anticipating the fresh perspectives he will bring to the Ugandan music landscape.
