A movie of the life of Serena and Venus Williams can finally be released after a legal dispute over footage rights has now been settled, according to a new report.
The team behind Venus and Serena, which centres on the sisters’ amazing tennis career, were sued by the United States Tennis Association (Usta) last year after they allegedly used footage taken from matches of the sisters from US Open matches without the appropriate permission.
The legal battle has now been settled and both parties are now happy with an agreement in place, although there has been no official word as to the details of the settlement.
“The dispute has been resolved to the parties’ mutual satisfaction,” a rep for the Usta has told the New York Post’s Page Six, while the filmmaking team gave a statement which said: “We’re pleased that tennis fans will continue to enjoy the film… without censorship”.
