Justin Bieber’s mentor and friend Usher has admitted that he’s not been “happy” with some of his behaviour recently.
The Burn hitmaker, who discovered Justin when he was a hit on YouTube along with Scooter Braun, has spoken to Billboard magazine about his relationship with the 20-year-old, who has been in and out of trouble with the law.
“I can say I’m not happy with all the choices my friend has made, but I’m supportive of him,” Usher told the magazine.
“He’s making his own decisions and it’s important to show support.”
The 36-year-old has been there for Biebs since he was just 13 after he auditioned for the Good Kisser singer and Scooter Braun’s Raymond Braun Media Group.
In the new issue of Billboard, Usher reveals that their relationship has evolved as Bieber has grown up.
“Our relationship is more man-to-man now,” he said. “I try my hardest to give as much positive reinforcement as I can. I’ll punch him in the f—ing chest when I need to, and give him a hug and kiss when I need to.”
In the past year, Justin has been in trouble with the law on several occasions, including one of Bieber’s neighbours accused him of vandalising his home by throwing eggs in January. He was then arrested on Miami Beach later that month and was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence as well as resisting without violence.
Later this year, Bieber was told he would have to serve two years’ probation and complete 12 weeks of anger management and five days of community service after negotiating a deal.
Before that Biebs was reportedly charged in Brazil with vandalism, and was accused of reckless driving in his Calabasas neighbourhood in 2012.
