Jon Muq, a Ugandan singer based in the United States, has been considered for multiple Grammy Awards categories.
Muq’s work is being recognized for “Best New Artist,” “Best Americana Album” for his album Shake Shake, and “Best American Roots Song” for his song of the same name.
Reacting to the news on his Instagram, Jon Muq expressed his excitement and gratitude. “Some things leave you speechless… being considered for these Grammy categories really made my head spin with a big smile. I did not know what it meant; now I do,” he wrote.
“Never have I ever imagined being a consideration. Big thanks to everyone that contributed to this consideration stage,” he added, also appealing to Grammy voters, “If you are a voter, your vote means the world so that I can go to the nomination stage.”

Originally from Uganda, he has recently released Flying Away, one of the most acclaimed debuts of 2024, through Dan Auerbach’s Easy Eye Sound label.
The album, which debuted on May 31, 2024, showcases his versatility and passion for music.
With Auerbach’s expert production, Flying Away features a blend of classic instrumentation and modern flair. Muq’s songwriting style incorporates various genres, including reggae, soul, R&B, Afrobeat, and pop.
The album consists of twelve tracks and lasts 38 minutes, offering a diverse yet cohesive musical experience.
Jon Muq’s journey began with humble performances in his Ugandan village before he moved overseas for a cruise-line gig.
His big break came when Auerbach discovered an Instagram clip of Muq singing, which led to the production of Flying Away.
Now residing in Austin, Texas, Muq is on the brink of significant recognition as he continues to captivate audiences with his soulful voice and acoustic performances.
