The Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB), in partnership with the Pearl of Africa Fashion Alliance (PAFA), will host the Brand Protection Symposium on Thursday, 18th September 2025 at the Uganda Business Facilitation Centre (UBFC), Main Auditorium, Level 2.

Held under the theme “Protect Your Creativity – Register Your Trademarks and Designs”, the symposium will bring together over 200 participants, including entrepreneurs, fashion designers, SME leaders, and policymakers. The discussions will focus on how Intellectual Property (IP) tools—particularly trademarks and industrial designs—can be used to protect and grow brands.

The Guest of Honour will be Ms. Mercy K. Kainobwisho, Registrar General of URSB, who will officially open the symposium.

Opportunities for Participants

The symposium will feature interactive sessions and practical learning opportunities, including:

  • Training sessions on trademarks and industrial designs.
  • A panel discussion with success stories from leading entrepreneurs and designers.
  • A fashion showcase highlighting Uganda’s most innovative designers, focusing on originality, sustainability, and cultural heritage fusion.
  • An entrepreneurship and fashion exhibition.
  • Awards and recognition for outstanding creative works.

About PAFA and the Creative Ownership Campaign

The Pearl of Africa Fashion Alliance (PAFA) is the official association for Uganda’s textile and fashion industry, working in five key areas: capacity building, market access, promotion and marketing, networking and collaboration, and sustainability.

Through its Business Pillar, PAFA developed the Creative Ownership Campaign, a flagship program dedicated to raising awareness about the value of Intellectual Property in fashion and creative industries. The campaign encourages creatives to own, protect, and commercialize their ideas, ensuring they fully benefit from their innovations.

This symposium, held in partnership with URSB, is part of that ongoing commitment—equipping designers and entrepreneurs with the knowledge and tools to thrive while safeguarding their creative assets.

Invitation to Attend

PAFA invites all fashion entrepreneurs, designers, SMEs, students, and creatives to attend this one-day landmark event. The symposium will not only raise awareness about brand protection but also celebrate innovation, creativity, and originality in Uganda’s fashion industry.
