Weeks after he survived a beating by Makerere University students for taking their money and then failing to stage a performance at the Mitchellex bazaar, ‘Love you everyday’ singer, Bebe Cool is in more trouble, this time with Uganda Revenue Authority.
News reaching our desk is that, Bebe Cool had not remitted any taxes to URA even after staging very successful concerts around Kampala, the most recent being his sold out ‘Best of Bebe Cool’ concert at the Kampala Serena hotel last month.
Sources at the revenue authority reveal that, the singer is being hunted down for failing to meet his tax obligations and could be arrested. Another option available, is that, the URA officials could attach some of his property and sale it in order to recover this money.
The Gagamel boss’ tax arrears have been estimated to be in millions of shillings.
A source at the Gagamel camp revealed to us that Bebe Cool is a very peaceful man who doesn’t like being on the wrong side of the law and pays all his taxes promptly. He said: “Bebe paid his taxes, he paid the venue guys, KCCA and even NEMA for both his Serena and Ggaba shows. Kati, what do they want?”
Early this year, Leone Island boss, Jose Chameleone’s car was impounded by URA scouts for failing to clear taxes. It was only after they threatened to sell the car that the Wale Wale singer paid the money and recovered his car.
We will keep you posted.
