In a match dedicated to their former goalkeeper, the late Abel Dhaira, Uganda Revenue Authority Football Club (URA FC) edged army side Simba Sports Club 3-2 at the Mehta Stadium in Lugazi on Tuesday evening.
Goal poacher and league top scorer Robert Ssentongo netted a brace on the day extending his personal tally to 15 goals of the season with eight games still remaining to be played for the Tax Collectors. Ronald Kigongo was the other player on the score sheet for the Kefa Kisala-coached side who moved third on the table with 35 points from 22 games.
Former SC Villa aces Musa Docca and Aggrey Kirya scored the consolations for visitors who remain in the relegation zone after 22 games with just 16 points.
Elsewhere, Julius Balinya and Geoffrey Sserunkuma netted as Lweza FC defeated league debutants, The Saints FC 2-0 at Muteesa II Memorial stadium in Wankulukuku.
At Luzira grounds, bottom side Maroons FC held Jinja based side JMC Hippos to a one-all draw with Patrick Kaddu scoring for the hosts while Issa Magumba netted for the visitors.
On the same day at Namboole stadium, Sadolin Paints thrashed a nine-man Sports Club Victoria University (SC VU) 3-0. Norman Ojik notched a brace on the day while Nazir Sserwadda added the other for a 10-man Sadolin. Peter Katumba and Joseph Ssemwogerere were sent off for SC VU and Caesar Sapewo for Sadolin.
